Dr. W. Thomas Sawyer

Interim Pastor

Tom has served as Interim Pastor at Calvary since May of 2009. He was also Interim Pastor here in 1982. He received the Ph.D. degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1968. He has taught in three colleges, a seminary, and a divinity school in South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, and North Carolina. Tom was Professor of Religion at Mars Hill College for twenty-six years and served there as Chair of the Department of Religion. He has been Pastor and Interim Pastor of many churches during his teaching career. tsawyer@mhc.edu

Reverend Donald N. Welborn

Minister of Music and Senior Adults

Don has severed since 1969 as Minister of Music. He is a graduate of Shenandoah University, Winchester, Virginia, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. He directed the United States Air Force SAC Chorus, SAC Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska 1960-64. Mr. Welborn is active in 40 ministries at Calvary Baptist Church. Elmer E. Perry, Jr

Children's Ministry Coordinator

Elmer has been teaching and serving as a leader to children in our church since 2000 and previously served in another church for six years. He has volunteered his time over these eleven years to be a children's Sunday School teacher, Children's Church leader, leader in puppet ministry, and a leader in Wednesday night children's programs. Elmer was hired as a full–time Children's Ministry Coordinator in April 2005. Elmer has completed the Preschool and Children Certification program through Campbell University and the NC Baptist State Convention, and is currently working on his degree in Early Childhood Education. elmerperry@calvaryasheville.com
