Most of the slides are self explanatory. They describe the 7 learning styles.
For the final slide, I offer the following notes:
The truth is that we only retain 5% of what we hear. Just by adding reading and audio-visuals, we increase retention to 10-20% of what is seen and heard. Demonstration and group discussions raise the retention level to 30-50%. Practice brings retention to 75%. However, the greatest retention is obtained when we use something immediately or teach it to someone else (90% retention).
Using and varying the use of learning styles not only makes Sunday School more interesting, but, more importantly, helps our students to better retain the concepts and principles taught in the lesson.
The March Teachers Conference is scheduled for March 30. We will be discussing presenting the plan of salvation to children and the unchurched. As always, these conferences are open to anyone who wishes to attend.
